Jacamo Suits Daddy Downs Side Up to a Tee

Bob test runs the SS17 menswear collection from Jacamo

Daddy Downs Side Up is a rare sight, seldom seen in front of the cameras save for the odd display of Dad dancing on a Friday evening during Chatty Natty live on Facebook (watch his catwalk appearance below). He is more often making his influence felt behind the scenes.

We girls often get treated to exciting outings, media gatherings and gifts. Natty has had more than her fair share of Frugi freebies, toys and even a consignment of milkshake called 'Natty', and Mia is often sent books or games to review, whilst I can sometimes be spotted lugging vast goodie bags home from blogger events.

So, it was with huge excitement (well, a wry smile and an 'OK then') that Bob accepted a gift from UK menswear brand Jacamo. We've never shopped with them before, never looked at their wares, so to speak, so we were eager to see what they had to offer.

Their homepage promises 'clothing for real men'... and as we're fairly sure Daddy DSU is not a figment of our imagination, that seemed to fit the bill. He is also the kind of man who hates clothes shopping, so online purchases would work for him if he knew what he was ordering would fit.

Daddy Downs Side Up loves the relaxed fit, cool deisgn
and soft fabric in this Joe Browns Roots of Life T shirt from Jacamo, £22

His usual modus operandi is to go to his fave store once every two years and ask the owner to bring him everything she thinks might suit. He then buys what fits in all available colours. Job done for another two years.

And recently, with his love of fresh bread conspiring against him, he has begun to favour a longer T shirt. I remember hearing Rob Brydon talking of men favouring ' a longer sock' as they mature and I think this perhaps is a similar penchant. You might call it a love of 'harvest garments', you know, so that 'all is safely gathered in'.

Menswear that's tough enough and comfy enough
to see you through the school holidays! Ben Sherman T shirt, £30

So, we popped over to the lovely Jacamo site to choose his gift, and lo and behold we discovered lots of fabulous Summer wear for all.

They stock everything from swimwear to sportwear and accessories, but Mr G fancied some casual warm weather gear. Not only do clothes come in sizes from XS up to a 5XL, many also come in two lengths. Now, despite Mr G favouring the longer Tee, he is of petite stature, so we ordered standard length, which suits him 'to a Tee"!

And although he doesn't enthuse wildly about clothes, he did comment at how soft and good quality the cotton was. High praise indeed. Mia and Natty thought they were trendy enough to be seen out with him wearing them too, which is a bonus. #harshcritics

Adjustable waistbands on the tailored Luke chino shorts, £65,
are perfect for a relaxed fit, and big meals!

Pair with a brushed cotton pair of chino shorts which (I quote) 'are perfect because they have an adjustable waistband to extend after a big meal' and he is ready for anything.... kids camping in the back garden, soggy trips to the beach, hungry runs to the chippie, Chihuahua dog walks, piggy back racing or Gruffalo hunts in the woods.

So, if you know a man who needs a wardrobe update for the school holidays, have a look at Jacamo.
