My first vlog: The end of an era

The baby phase is long gone. Now I've had to accept that the cuddly toddler and beyond phase is to be packed up and put away too.

For Natty, who grows and develops at her own gentle pace, this has extended to 6 years, but I finally had to face the fact that she had grown out of many of her firm favourites. The clothes that had been worn while so many memories were made. We affectionately call them her 'trusty steads'.

Last week I read a touching post by Ross Mountney: Parenting - What Really Matters. about appreciating and enjoying our children while they are young, even if those phases are the toughest, for it simply does pass too quickly.

So please join me for my first ever vlog, about packing away that phase and looking ahead to pastures new. I'm rather nervous about it and would love any feedback you have.

    1. Yes, those ealry months are so hard yet so short in the scheme of things. If only we knew, had the benefit of hindsight. It will get easier and you will remember with fondness xxx

  2. That was such a lovely vlog, I felt every word you said. My daughter also had a stripy dress a short sleeved version that also went with leggings too once it was turned into a tunic. It is my loft as well. We are hoping to move and I know some of the things I have held onto are going to have to go for space reasons.

I am so not looking forward to that. Bex is now thirteen, in fact she is 14 next month.

    1. Thank you. I know I shouldn't hold onto so much but I can't help it. I wish I had more of my own things from childhood too.
      Love to Bex x

    1. You are too kind. I might try one about my feelings about BritmumsLive. They take so much time though. How do you do it? x

  4. That was just lovely, well done on such a great first vlog. I think it's the time of year - I've also recently been through a load of my younger sons' clothes and have found myself unable to get rid of two or three items of clothing that just have too many memories attached to them. Into the keepsake box they go. I'm sure that in the future I'll be able to let them go - but not just yet...

  5. What an absolutely beautiful post Hayley - so moving. And thank you very much for such sweet endorsement of my post. I just so had to tell you - when I took the girls (then teens) to see Mama Mia my eldest was at a particularly prickly, detaching stage. But when this song came on and Sophie was sitting on mums knee in the film, she turned to me and looked with moist eyes into mine and said 'I love you mum'! Moments like that between the prickles are food for a lifetime! Like you - I'm all emotional now! All the best. xxx
